4th of July Trip to Utah

Tuesday morning Tom called me at work to say that his contract had ended (at least for now) and what did I think about going out to Utah for the 4th of July holiday?  I wasn’t happy to get this call – I wanted this contract to last longer and I didn’t think I wanted to make such a short […]

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir at Red Rocks

A couple of weeks ago the Mormon Tabernacle Choir ended their tour with a final concert at Red Rocks here in Denver.  Tom & I debated whether to go or not and finally decided we should go and see his sister sing, since it is her final tour with the choir.  We bought a couple of extra tickets and invited […]

Saving Money??

I just flipped through a recent Women’s Day magazine with the headline “Live Well on Less”.  No lie – the entire magazine was filled with things to BUY.  From cutesy little scrubbers, to advice to buy fresh flowers because “you deserve it” and ice cream because it “makes everything better”.  The other headline?  “Stop Spending on Stupid Stuff”.  Seriously – […]

Rude Online Behavior

So – I have been making small excursions into Facebook – mostly to catch-up with old friends from my “past lives”. I decided to join a group – BYU Alumni – should be a safe group, right? Well, whoever is “in charge” of the group posted an old picture of cheerleaders. The first comment was about how different the uniforms […]

New Stuff

I posted a new entry on LDS Activity Days Ideas – under prayer.  Also, if you haven’t ever looked at it, there are entries on the LDS Religion tab for Andrew & Haley’s baptism days, as well as a couple of essays.  I’ll try and upload a new picture album in the next couple of weeks.  If you can’t see […]

Summer is here

If only my little kids weren’t still in school!!!  The weather has been beautiful and the summer twilight lasts and lasts … too bad I have to put my kids to bed for school the next morning. Last night Andrew would not go to bed – or at least, he was in his room, but would not stop playing.  At […]

Must’ve been Karma (or something …)

So, I posted about the job search and Tom got offered a job today.  Before you all start sending off fireworks, let me hasten to add that it is a contract job – currently estimated to last 2-3 months.  So it’s not a permanent solution, but it is income and we are grateful to have it!!  Tom will continue to […]

Job Search Update

There’s not a lot to report, but today Tom has had quite a few calls from recruiters – more than he’s had in a couple of weeks, so that is encouraging.  We appreciate all the prayers on our behalf – you are all awesome!

Home Improvement Updates

Well, we continue to work on the house.  We’ve got all the windows installed, thanks to some professional help, but we still had to drywall & finish the upstairs windows that were too small for the space.  Thanks to Mom & Dad, the kids rooms have been finished and Andrew’s has even been painted.  Wanted to show some pictures of […]

A Book to Check Out

I’ve been reading this book Don’t get caught with your skirt down : a practical girl’s recession guide by Jill Keto.  There’s a lot of straight talking about becoming economically self-sufficient and “recession-proof”.  Haven’t quite finished it, but I highly recommend it for anyone who’s looking to cut expenses.  Most of it is practical stuff that you have probably heard […]
