Saving Money??

I just flipped through a recent Women’s Day magazine with the headline “Live Well on Less”.  No lie – the entire magazine was filled with things to BUY.  From cutesy little scrubbers, to advice to buy fresh flowers because “you deserve it” and ice cream because it “makes everything better”.  The other headline?  “Stop Spending on Stupid Stuff”.  Seriously – cutesy little scrubbers would be on my list of “stupid stuff”.  In fact, the entire magazine felt like a catalog – every article (well – you couldn’t classify most of the pages as being part of an article) was advice on something that the reader needed to buy to make life better.  What happened to advice like – “stop going to stores – just don’t go” or “don’t read ads and then you won’t know what you are missing” or “repair the things that you have instead of replacing them” or “buy fresh foods instead of prepared foods”??  Seriously – if you are trying to save money, you don’t do it by spending it!
