Memorial day was an exciting one in our family. Spencer went skating with some buddies and had an accident – got himself a nice concussion and a case of short term memory loss. I can joke about it (a little) now, but at the time it was totally freaking me out. He hit his head after falling backwards off his board and falling on the ramp, head first. According to his friends, he didn’t get knocked out – he got up saying his head really hurt. Fortunately one of his friend’s mom was there and she brought him right home. But before they even got him home he had begun asking over and over what had happened. He was pretty upset and kept saying the same things over and over. It was pretty disconcerting. Tom gave him a blessing and then I drove him to Urgent Care who promptly sent him on to the emergency room...
So, I’ve been having trouble finding a theme that works. I noticed, after about a week, that the last theme wouldn’t let me post comments! What good is a blog if people can’t comment??? For now I’m back to a theme I know works. Just wish it was a little cuter, or something … On the very last leg of my New Testament project. Read John this week – what a powerful book. On every page, multiple times, there is the Savior testifying of who he is and what he came here for. Really enjoyed it. Tomorrow I start Revelations – the last book of the quest. Hope I can make heads or tails of it! Have been battling depression and now a head cold. Maybe the depression was actually me being low-grade sick? Whatever it is, I have had the hardest time making myself do anything. I get the kids off...
If only my little kids weren’t still in school!!! The weather has been beautiful and the summer twilight lasts and lasts … too bad I have to put my kids to bed for school the next morning. Last night Andrew would not go to bed – or at least, he was in his room, but would not stop playing. At 9:30 I went in and scolded him. 5 minutes later I heard noises – he was up with the caulking gun in hand (silly me, leaving it in his room). He had emptied about half the tube into the crawl space under his window. Lovely. I put him out on the deck and told him to go ahead and play if he must. After I had calmed down and done some thinking, I brought him back in and put him to work. Got the dishwasher unloaded, a load of clothes folded, and the trash carried out to the curb. I finally sent him back to bed about...
First off, do you like our new look? I had to browbeat Spencer to get him to do something new. He’s not impressed because it only took him a few minutes to design it – if it doesn’t take four hours, it’s not worth it!! We had a surprise visit from Mom & Dad Cottle this past weekend. It was great to see them! Dad finished pulling the tree root out of the ground for Tom, so we were soooo grateful for that. The last time Tom came in from digging and chopping, he said “that tree is winning!”. My neighbor, who is a landscaper, came over on Monday and offered to take it to the dump, so it is even out of our yard! I love having it gone. Now the dogwood can really do its thing. I have had a few not so great weeks. While the depression medicine has really been making a difference over...
