Kitchen Garden Window

So, the tiling work is finished (except for sealing the grout, which won’t change the look at all).  Here’s some pictures. Now we just need to sand all the wood and do some painting – we’re thinking white trim paint.  So, what do you think??

My brother, Alex, got a JOB!

So, this gives me hope – my brother Alex, got laid off a couple of months ago and he got a job today!  We just have to stay positive and pray hard! and look hard! for work.  Tom’s been going stir-crazy a bit – if it would get warm he could work on putting our new windows in … but […]

It’s Snowing Again!

Despite the prodigious amounts of snow that fell last week, the snow was pretty much gone by Saturday (gotta love Denver weather!) and now we’re having another snowy day (though the forecast is for a measly 2-6 inches).  I personally am glad to have the snow – I’ve missed it this winter – but it is a little odd in […]

Here we go again …

Tom called me yesterday afternoon on his way home – he has been laid off.  We have mixed feelings.  On the one hand, no one wants to be out of work – and we say that from experience.  On the other hand, I don’t know that Tom has ever worked in such an unpleasant environment and was already beginning the […]

Another New Host??

Sadly, Yakkel just quit hosting us – at least that’s what we think happened.  All of sudden we were getting a “404 Error” page and attempts to contact Yakkel were unsuccessful.  On the upside – we have our own domain now – thewoodfamilyblog.com – which is kindof cool, although not very imaginative!!  I learned a lot about importing and exporting […]

I’m still alive!

It’s been a slow six weeks since Christmas (or is that closer to eight weeks?).  We’re not doing anything exciting like training for a marathon! or finishing up our last semester of school or anything remotely interesting.  So it’s hard to know what to post (and I’m pretty miserable at posting pictures!).  One newsworthy thing occurred last weekend – Spencer […]

Christmas Day

Just wanted to share our tips for torturing the kids on Christmas Day. #1 – when children arrive in Mom & Dad’s room begging to go down and open presents Christmas morning, begin an extended conversation on the advisability of sleeping a bit more, on maybe waiting until afternoon, on having breakfast first, etc. #2 – after agreeing to go […]

Thinking about Kids

As the mother of one biological child, and two adopted children (who joined our family as toddler/preschoolers) I’ve thought a lot about those experiences that mothers have with their babies during the first three years of life.  I remember really enjoying those years with my first child – especially since I thought it might be my only chance to have […]

Will we Ever be well again??

I have to report that I am STILL SICK. You might have noticed that I made a post about being sick back in November.  Well, I had a brief reprieve in CA – my coughing never went away, but I felt better.  As soon as we got back to Denver I went back to bed and stayed there for 72 […]

Disneyland Thanksgiving

Well, Tom & I decided we were actually going to take the kids to Disneyland after talking about it for a couple of years.  Because of Spencer’s school schedule, we decided to take them the week of Thanksgiving.  We thought it wouldn’t be too crowded at Disneyland, because it is a holiday weekend, afterall, but that was foolishness!  Still, we […]
