The Great Winter Storm of Oct 2009

So here we are in the second day of this winter storm.  The second day of !NO SCHOOL! as my kids will say with frequency!  Here are some pictures from yesterday:

These were taken maybe around noon or so?  Quite a bit of snow, especially since it has never really stopped snowing since it started.  I cleared a good eight to ten inches off the Pathfinder before taking Spencer to his cello lesson around 1pm.  I also cleared the driveway at the same time.  It’s probably got at least that much snow on it now (the next day at about the same time of day).

Here’s some pictures I just took:

You can see the snow from the window boxes outside the windows piled up above the level of the windows (our sliding glass door is snowed in about ten inches to a foot) and Tom rescued the tree last night from all the snow on its branches so hopefully we won’t lose any limbs.

As I type, it continues to snow.  Tom has stayed home both days, working from home on his laptop (thankfully he didn’t try to make the drive to Boulder).  I took the kids to friends yesterday – just in the neighborhood – and the roads were awful!  It’s supposed to be warm on the weekend, so I imagine most of it will be melted by Monday or Tuesday – hard to believe right now, watching the snow-filled sky continue to bluster and blow the white stuff down in deeper piles!  Beautiful.  I should be making a big pot of soup and some homemade bread – but I probably won’t!!  Maybe I will go find some fun snow-day activities for kids though.  I imagine this afternoon they might be feeling a little stir-crazy!!
