What’s going on?

I’m happy to report that since coming home from Utah I have continued to feel happy (or at least not depressed).  This morning when it was so sunny at nine a.m. I thought to myself, “how could I be depressed with all this light hitting my eyeballs?”

I’m not happy to report that Andrew still seems to be struggling with tantrums (though he hasn’t been hitting anyone lately – that’s a plus).  The last few times he got out of control, I decided to just hold him next to me.  In some ways I think it is good, because eventually he seems to calm down and be willing to talk about his emotions.  When I just let him scream in his room, he gets calm but he also acts like nothing even happened.  In other ways I think it will be too hard to maintain.  He was really upset last night and my arms are so sore today from holding him while he thrashed around.  Have to think more about this strategy …

I’m happy to report that Tom is … (wait for it …) LIKING his job.  When was the last time that happened??  What a wonderful thing for our family (and of course, for Tom).

I’m not happy to report that I still have not:

  • hung the blinds in the kitchen
  • finished building the bookcase in Andrew’s room
  • finished the picture frame for the awesome picture Weston took

I’m happy to report that the new “used” fridge we bought two weeks ago is working perfectly, is bigger than our old one, only sticks out a few inches more than our old “counter-depth” fridge, has a very cool “in door” ice container, and is just generally making me happy!

It's really easy to take the ice bin out for filling cups, etc.

Doesn't stick out too much, does it??

I’m not happy to report that I still have way too much stuff in my garage, despite a full day’s work last weekend trying to put things away, purge old stuff, reorganize stuff that has to stay … We need a full work shop to house all the tools!

I’m happy to report that I found some bulbs peeking out of my garden today – spring flowers are on their way!

I’m not happy to report that I’m still not cooking meals for my family – I keep making resolutions to do better – to plan some meals and then actually make them.  I mostly find myself waiting for Tom to come home and then ask him if he had any ideas for dinner.  Poor guy …

I’m happy to report that everyone is healthy and doing well in school (well, the minors in the family are doing well in school) and we’re all trying to be as grateful as we can be for all the good things that are happening in our lives.
