Me Being Crafty
So, I’m not a super crafty person, but I do like to do crafty things on occasion. I pulled out my woefully small collection of Valentine’s Day decorations and decided I needed more. But I didn’t feel like going shopping or actually doing anything difficult, so I went looking for Valentine’s printables (and there are quite a few on the internet, let me tell you!) So here’s a few pics … For this one I made a handy little stand out of the scrap paper I cut off of this printable (which I printed on cardstock).

This one I actually put into a picture frame.

I used some of the spaces in my china cabinet as a picture frame and printed this fun “subway” Valentine art.

The one craft I did do – make felt roses and “sprinkle” them with rocks in a glass bowl. They were kind of fun to do, though I learned later to make them less flat.

I also made this tasty treat for Haley to take for Valentines and for Andrew to take a big batch for his school social. This is not my picture (but I didn’t take pictures of what I made so this will have to do. We used some cute tags I found (the link is below under “Tweety Pie”) and tied them with ribbon.

That’s Valentine’s Day. Then I finally got around to making a “winter wreath” – I always want one when I’m taking down my Christmas decorations but have so little energy that I never make one. Well, I finally got around to it. Here’s the end product. This was originally a Christmas wreath, with red and green roses and berries. I think it translated nicely to a winter color scheme. It is hanging on my front door, despite the fact that it is Valentine’s season. Oh well …

Last crafty thing – I made some birthday cards for the Young Women in our ward (the youth group for girls in our congregation). I just dragged and dropped clipart into a Publisher document and used this font that Spencer found (he is the master of design in our home). My touch was the sewing – it is real thread sewn by a sewing machine (not more clip art). I think it makes them look less like something I just printed on my computer – plus it meant I could just print the outside and the inside of the card on separate pieces of paper and then just sew them together – thicker card without using card stock or having to flip the paper so I can print on both sides.

- Be Mine – this is a PDF which I zoomed in on and then printed “current view” in order to get the size I wanted.

- The bird clip art came from this website: http://summertimedesigns.blogspot.com/ It is part of her “Sweet Springtime” kit.
- The wreath was inspired by this wreath at Better Homes and Gardens.
If you are inspired, go search google images for “valentine subway art” or “valentine printables”. I also found some great ideas on Pinterest – just searched “valentines”. I think I’ll start looking for Easter stuff next!

love your valentine decor and ideas. Hardly thought about the holiday this year. Now a week later I’m sad it got by me. Still I love all of you no matter what day it is.
